As the man said: “Start a movement – eat a prune!”

And so, with bellies full of plumb cultivars and lips dripping with trumpet juice, the Riot Jazz-mobile yanks and banks and rolls south from Manchester…

…on FRIDAY 28th March, the sun shall rise from the North West!

At Riot Jazz, anything is possible: a place of dreams and liquid wondermint. A one-night-only-festival where the air is thick with pumping jazz and sweat beads cling to the walls like a colony of bats having nocturnal emissions.

Chase the feeling! Join the undulating mass of flesh and dance into the night and get your kicks, before the morning comes and you retrace your steps, hopping on your good feet, back along on the road paved with bold intentions…

…the road to Riot Jazz.

These guys put their jazz pants on one leg at a time, just like the next man. The only difference is, when these guys get them jazz pants on, they make sweet and sweaty, export-strength, brass-packed euphoria!

Body-surfing national TV and radio waves and bouncing across country and continent – with appearances at Glastonbury, Fusion, Bestival, V Fest, Soundwave Croatia and many more – the original peace-loving aggro-jazz guerrilla have started a movement of their own!

“Riot Jazz’s brass-heavy jazz combo pack a hefty punch” / The Guardian

“…my personal highlight, Riot Jazz, whose unique blend of funk, jazz and hip-hop absolutely smashed it… …if you’ve yet to witness a crowd whipped into a frenzy by a sousaphone solo then I suggest you rectify that at the earliest opportunity and catch one of their upcoming shows.” / Festivalcorner.co.uk

∆ Imagine!
A New Orleans first line lost in the Balkan mountains, with only Chunky to lead them home!

Stare into the eyes of the most handsome jazzmen north of Watford Junction. Then get ready for more!

• ¡ HONEYFEET ! •

A wonderband of royalty from Manchester’s live music scene – If Tom Waits was a happier woman he wouldn’t sound half as good as this!

Riognach Connolly, the songbird of a generation, and her merry gentlemen are
musical wizards with a cauldron full of hand-clappin’, bum-wrigglin’ concotions!

• ¡ WALK ! •

This new Manchester two-piece has created “sequencer blues” – a high-proof blend of hard-oak blues of the same universe as Valerie June and The Black Keys, but set on a different planet by the drummer’s ambidextrous, multi-tasking, electro-flavouring sequencer-play. These guys have grabbed us by the proverbials like few others – it’s time for the groins of London to feel that tug!

∆ Believe the Ballyhoo!
“Absolutely love it!” / BBC Radio 6 Mark Riley

“The kick with WALK is the evolution to sequencer blues; leaving electric blues in the past by warping their sonic creations with 21st Century electronic gadgetry.” / Now Then

• ¡ TANTZ ! •

Steamy-fresh from the Brit Awards After Party, Tantz Take their name from the age-old Yiddish adage “Freilich! Tantz yer pants off!” And when these meshugeners’ mix of power-klezmer with dub, hiphop and Balkan beats hits ludicrous-speed, you best be wearing both belt and braces!

∆ Believe the Ballyhoo!
‘Tantz are a remarkable collective of talented equals making the most of traditional material in a truly modern way… by the end of their set they’d earned a serious dance response from a happy and sweaty canteen crowd.’ / Tony Benjamin, Venue Magazine

’4 tracks of klezmer crossover with eastern influences and a nod to the dance floor…this is fantastically played and written stuff!!!’/ Jumbo Records review of Tantz’s newest EP: ‘Etrog Pomander’

• ¡ THE DAKOTA JIM BAND – WHISKEY MOON FACE ! •
http://www.whiskeymoonface.co.uk/

Toe-rag and broken-bone old time jazz, brimming with hopeful revelry!

Vaudeville blues and North Indian classical music crash together above a Francophone Mississippi delta in a phantasmagoria of Louisa Jones’ velveteen rasp, the clarion-call clarinet of Ewan Bleach and the tub-thumping, legs akimbo-banging legendary double bass and accordion-play of North Dakota’s finest and most traveled gentleman, Dakota Jim.

If you’ve ever been found wandering in the early hours of the final night of a summer festival – this is what you were hoping to find!

∆ Believe the Ballyhoo!
“Louisa Jones is the girl with a suitcase full of songs. Well known & loved in the homemade, handmade realm of the Hackney backstreets; a sheer delight brimming with vitality” / Upstairs at The Ritzy

Brothers and sisters are as close as hands and feet but siblings Vicky and Simi Freund have a beating telepathic musical connection that is almost palpable as they steer their clam-tight horn and rhythm sections into the funky lands and get brothers sliding, sisters bouncing, hands jumping and feet clapping.

Live, pumping cosmic soul disco and afro-cuban rhythms, straight from the top shelf!
