Ringer 1x09: Shut Up and Eat Your Bologna

Storyline: Bridget begins to realize she is developing feelings for Andrew, while Henry and Olivia bond over common interests. Malcolm is suspicious of Bridget's new NA sponsor, Charlie. Bridget makes an appointment with Siobhan's therapist, hoping it will help her discover some insight into her sister's life.Best Quote:

Andrew: What have you got planned the rest of the day?
Bridget: What would you say if I said I was going to church?
Andrew: You... in church? You'd melt.

Review: Guess what? Gemma's alive! Surprising? Not even a little bit and that is not a good sign. I'd predicted she wouldn't be dead ever since Henry found her missing and his house covered in blood. After all, she was the only one to know the truth about Bridget and be willing to share that, so keeping her around makes perfect sense. Not to mention it would have been a pity to use Tara Summers for just a couple of episodes. But what are Charlie and Siobhan planning to do with her? Keep her tied up in that basement forever? And what was all that blood that Henry was cleaning up? Cause she didn't seem hurt, other than being tied up to a chair and gagged.

That's only one of the questions Ringer raised this week. But we're not the only ones looking for answers. Bridget starts digging more into her sister's life by making an appointment with her therapist, while Malcolm starts suspecting that Charlie has something to hide, based on the fact the he only has "four pairs of socks, four pairs of boxers, three t-shirts." Definitely suspicious, unless you really don't care about dressing up and do your laundry every other day. As a matter of fact, their separate investigations got them to the same conclusion: Charlie's real name is John and he's definitely not a recovering addict; au contraire (a little tribute to the Paris lady here), he doesn't mind drinking whiskey in the afternoons in a church turned bar. 
I don't mind the slow pace at which things have been unraveling. It's a noir-ish series and that's exactly how it's supposed to go. Plus, how long can this show go on once everyone finds out Siobhan's not dead and her sister took her place? It's not like these two girls are mafia or something, to be facing danger constantly. But some things are starting to bother me, because they remind me of bad daytime soap operas, and this week that thing was finding out the circumstances of Bridget's escape from the FBI custody back in the pilot, and how he got to have the gun. I don't doubt it that Siobhan hired an ex-cop (if that's what Charlie/John really is) to keep things in check for her, but I somehow find it unrealistic that she has that much of an influence as to have an FBI agent in her pocket.
Having Bridget fall in love with Andrew was not a surprise, but I didn't really mind that. I'll admit, Kristoffer Polaha does it for me more than Ioan Gruffudd, even with his gorgeous accent, and in the beginning I had hoped she's fall for Henry, but that was before I started to dislike the character. Now, Andrew seems to me like the perfect man (who wouldn't want to go to Turks & Caicos for the holidays, after all?), but I feel their happiness will be a short one, what with Olivia finding out about Siobhan's affair with her best friend's husband and all. Who in their right mind keeps photos of their lover in the phone where their wife could see them? Bad bad Henry!
Other stuff: I love Bridget's wardrobe, but her leather blue jacket was the best piece of clothing she wore so far. I desperately want it now! Also, how adorable are Gemma and Henry's twins? 
Next week, The CW will air the midseason finale for this show, and I hope we'll get some good twists, to keep us wanting more during the hiatus. And bring back Jason Dohring, whom I've missed this episode.
