Rihanna has many endorsement deals, but her new campaign with Dior will by far the most monumental. Since it's founding in 1946, the fashion house has NEVER had a black spokesperson. That is close to 70 years if you are doing the math in your head. Well, I guess better late than never.
On being selected for the campaign Rihanna said, "It feels fantastic. It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any color. I think to be acknowledged by Dior means a lot, as a woman, to feel beautiful - to feel elegant and timeless."
How did it take 70 years for a fashion house as big as Dior to choose a black spokesperson? Rihanna is stunning, but certainly there are MANY other women of color that could have fit the build in the last century. This definitely furthers the conversation about the lack of diversity in fashion.
