Rihanna Releases “Diamonds” Cover, Announces Release Date

By Macrogers

According to earlier reports that Rihanna would be realising her seventh full-length new album in November, the pop singer announced that the new single ‘Diamonds’ will be released on Wednesday –Sep 26.

Not less than 12 month since her last album Talk That Talk hit the stores, this announcement was made last weekend. Though the song will launch worldwide on Wednesday, the artwork for the cover of her upcoming single has just been released.

The cover art for “Diamonds” takes Rihanna’s ‘good girl gone bad’ image to another level, featuring RiRi’s hands holding some blunt paper loaded with raw, unset diamonds instead of marijuana, blinding your eyes. The photo was shot by Melissa Forde and is sure to tempt fans into checking it on Wednesday.

When asked about the track the Barbadian beauty said, “It gives me such a great feeling when I listen to it. The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it’s about love and the gears are a little different from what people would expect. I’m excited to surprise them sonically.”

She added that the song is ‘laid back’ and ‘hopeful’ continuing that it is a ‘happy and hippy record.’

The single is the lead track off her reported about to be release album. ‘Diamonds’ is not only the name of her forthcoming single, but is also the title of her world tour, which kicks off on Mar. 8, 2013, in Buffalo, N.Y.

Although Island Def Jam has not given Rih’s new album a release date, but it is alleged that the album will hit shelves “before the end of this year.” If this ends up being true, this will mark Rihanna’s fourth album released in November as it has been a trend for the past three years. In 2009, she released Rated R continuing with Loud and Talk That Talk in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

This past weekend, the pop superstar performed at iHeart Music Festival’s concert in Las Vegas. She performed six of her singles, including “We Found Love,” “Only Girl in the World,” and “Cockiness.”
