REWIND: Doyle And The Fourfathers - 'Summer Rain'

Posted on the 06 September 2013 by Rw/ff @rwffmusic
After two days of sun, and the prospect of a late-summer heatwave, I awoke this morning to find it pissing down. Here's a track that perfectly captures this uniquely English sense of melancholy.

Doyle And The Fourfathers were a band who formed in 2009, and who I first heard playing a storming session for Marc Riley's BBC 6Music programme back in 2011. Knowing that this band were on to something great, I purchased their debut album 'Man Made' a while later, and was massively impressed by the contents. This superb collection of perfect indie-pop tracks ended up in my Best Albums Of 2011 list, and you can read my review of it HERE. Other listeners weren't so fortunate, and many didn't get to hear this fantastic record. Sadly, it was to be their first and last long-player, since the band parted ways with each other after the release of their 'Olympics Critical' EP in 2012. However the story doesn't end there: the main creative force behind this group (William Doyle) is now operating under the electro-pop guise of East India Youth, and after a critcally-acclaimed debut EP called 'Hostel' (reviewed HERE) he has now been signed to Stolen Records, who will release his debut album early 2014...
