“Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered.
This was worse.
Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland–known as The Death Shop–are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild–a savage–and her only hope of staying alive.
A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile–everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.”
Under the Never Sky was an interesting read, but I do have mixed feelings for it. I just found the first 100 pages very slow paced which made me bored at times. It was an interesting read because there are two wolds in the book. There is the Reverie where everything is perfect, and there is The Death Shop where there is always this storm called an Aether. The people who live in the ‘perfect’ world are called the Dwellers and the people who live in the Death Shop are called the Outsiders. The story is told in two point of views, but it is written in 3rd person. We follow Aria who is a Dweller and Peregrine (a.k.a Perry) who is an Outsider.
Fortunately, the story did pick up and got better after those 100 pages. My favorite characters would have to be Roar and Perry. Roar and Perry are best friends, and Roar is going through an expedition to find Liv, a girl who he loves which is Perry’s sister. I also love the relationship that Talon and Perry shares. Talon is Perry’s nephew, and he’s just a cute little kid! My least favorite character is Aria because I just find her having a flat personality. I guess she was okay.
Overall it was a great read though I had some downs while reading it. Honestly, I do feel a bit disappointed because I heard lots of spectacular things about this book, but for me it turned out all right. It did not wow me or anything and I was expecting to be mind blown, but I wasn’t.
