Review: Swoon by Nina Malkin

By Twilightbookjunkie @TwiBookJunkie

Book description (via Goodreads): Sin is coming... Prepare to Swoon.Torn from her native New York City and dumped in the land of cookie-cutter preps, Candice is resigned to accept her posh, dull fate. Nothing ever happens in Swoon, Connecticut...until Dice's perfect, privileged cousin Penelope nearly dies in a fall from an old tree, and her spirit intertwines with that of a ghost. His name? Sinclair Youngblood Powers. His mission? Revenge. And while Pen is oblivious to the possession, Dice is all too aware of Sin. She's intensely drawn to him—but not at all crazy about the havoc he's wreaking. Determined to exorcise the demon, Dice accidentally sets Sin loose, gives him flesh, makes him formidable. Now she must destroy an even more potent—and irresistible—adversary, before the whole town succumbs to Sin's will. Only trouble is, she's in love with him. What do you do when the boy of your dreams is too bad to be true?"

My Review:
Round 2 of reading Swoon! Didn't review it the first time so gonna do it this time. I really like this book, it has a good plot which is very different from what is usually put out there these days. I don't want to give too much away, but basically the book is about a girl named Candice or "Dice" for short, who moves to the town of Swoon from New York, and basically lives alone because her parents are only there on the weekends due to their work. Well her cousin Pen becomes posessed - and im sure by now you know who was possessing her lol. Anyway there is a ritual done where they think they are ridding him from Pen but instead they are actually releasing him into the world. Where he is out for revenge for a death of his gf or fiancee which happened in the 1700's and he was put to death for her murder, which he didn't commit. So since the people who were alive when that happened are dead by now, he decides he will just take the revenge out on their living relatives, very distant relatives seeing as it did happen in the 1700's. I do think guys would enjoy this book just as much as girls. It did have romance (which i love!) but it didn't have it in a conventional way. It was more like a "i love you because i have no choice" on Dice's part and a "i love you but i'm still gonna destroy everyone you care about and i dont care what you think of it" on Sin's part, but when they were alone together you still got the deep feelings they had for each other. Having never read about a character of Sin's kind, i have to say i was pleasently surprised by my feelings towards him. I did have my moments of wondering why in the world she was even bothering with him, but then the next thing i know i would be rooting for them, or him, to be the person he really was instead of a person filled with hate and anger. I will say going towards the end of the book some of the stuff said and such didn't make much sense to me, like i didn't understand where it was coming from or what they were talking about, but it didn't last long. So overall very good book, good characters, and now i'm on to book 2! Happy reading!
