Tyler Durman - for Parents (why our children test) from Tyler Durman on Vimeo.

I do most of my reading/writing when other people in the house are asleep, so I don't usually watch videos. If you're doing the same thing, I suggest you grab some headphones and watch this video from Tyler Durnam, the author of the new book,Birthday Suit
People tell us (and we often tell ourselves) that when our kids test us, they don't do it simply to be mean or to see us lose our minds, but it's always been a difficult concept to grasp. The short video helped me figure it out. Now, if only I could watch this video every time my kids test me, and remember what it's really about...
Birthday Suit is a short book of short stories from Durman's life, illustrating his path from being a reclusive introvert to public speaker. It's also about being a divorced father of kids he doesn't get to see often enough. It's about struggling with OCD (and with hiding it from too many people). It's about making an impact on the world. And it's about being chased by hippos.
It's truly a brilliant book, and I hope the video above (and other videos from Durman's site, Bite Sized Wisdom) give you a taste of Durman's style and philosophy.

I got a free copy to review, which makes no difference. It would have been a brilliant book even if I had paid for it.
