Review: Foldable, Portable Flipsters Flip Flops

I didn’t know Flipsters existed until I was offered to give them a go. I had only heard of foldable, portable ballet flats but not of thongs/flip flops. This pair came in blue, a very beautiful blue. You’ll see in a minute.

I don’t think I would’ve mind it if they had come in another colour, because they’re not meant for the long trip to the shops but if you’re just dashing in and out to grab a quickie like fuel or milk then go for it. So because I wouldn’t be going outside in these Flipsters except to hang the washing or go check out the mail out front then I’m not fussed which color Flipsters I own.

The packaging is cute and you can tell right away what the product looks like and the color options.

I put them on the table to watch them flip out like a chick coming out of a shell! Pop! Unzip the bag, unfold the Flipsters and there you go!

They are very thin but strong, with sturdy soles made of rubber. Even if they are foldable they fit right under my feet and they stay flat as I walk. You can say that they take the shape of my feet, just like wearing ballet flats. Walking in them is quite comfortable and it feels better than walking in the usual beach thongs that tend to flip and flop and that’s because they have straps on the back. You know, like the ones designed for tiny children.

Once I put the Flipsters on and snapped the straps onto my heels I forgot about them. Putting them on and taking them off was easy and there were no blisters or anything. They are not good for winter, so I only wear them when my heaters are on or when I’m just lounging about.

My only issue with the pair that I received? Well, although they came in my usual shoe size (Small: 7-8 [39-40] at 25 cm long) and are suitable for the bottom of my feet – you know, the parts that actually touch the flip flops – when you look from above you only see mostly my feet, not the flip flops. So the size was not a true 7 or 8 but ‘just’. I like my flip flops slightly wider and longer than my feet, for much better comfort so that if they move a little while I walk then my feet won’t be touching the ground. But these didn’t move, thanks to the straps and non-slip material. I’m quite happy with them. I’m not sure whether the shoe length is not accurate or if the shape is not cut properly.

But they’re useful and I’ve been wearing them around the house and will bring them with me on the mums’ retreat this weekend in Perth City.

The Flipsters flip flops and many other products, including flat shoes for travellers are available from Ciao Bella Travel and prices vary. They offer a 30-day return/exchange and the option for next day delivery (conditions may apply). Flipsters is a brand created in Sydney, Australia and sold around the world.
