Review: Delia's Shadow by Jaime Lee Moyer

By Girllostinabook
Description (from cover):
'It is the dawn of a new century in San Francisco, and Delia Martin is a wealthy young woman whose life appears ideal. But a dark secret colors her life, for Delia's most loyal companions are ghosts, as she has been gifted (or some would say cursed) with an ability to peer across to the other side.
Since the great quake rocked her city in 1906, Delia has been haunted by an avalanche of the dead clamoring for her help. She flees to the other side of the continent, hoping to gain some peace. After several years in New York, Delia believes she is free...until one determined specter appears and she realizes that she must return to the City by the Bay in order to put this tortured soul to rest.
It will not be easy, as the ghost is only one of the many victims of a serial killer who was never caught. A killer who, after thirty years, is killing again.
And who is now aware of Delia's existence.'
My thoughts:
This book was an absolutely thrilling read. I couldn't put this one down. I loved the writing, the characters, the setting, the mystery, well I just loved everything about this book. I am sad that it had to come to an end. Delia Martin was living in New York trying to escape all the ghosts that haunted her old life in San Francisco. She found peace for some time, but soon she was being haunted by a stubborn ghost who would not go away. She felt a pull towards her hometown and soon she travels back to San Francisco to be with her best friend and her friend's terminally ill mother.
When Delia arrives she finds that the ghost is more adamant that Delia find out what happened to her and put her to rest. With the help of her friends and the police, Delia discovers that the ghost was a victim of a brutal serial killer that was never apprehended. She must now use her ghostly insights to help solve old crimes and new crimes before everyone she loves becomes the victim of this killer. She fights to make sure that everyone is safe while learning about her paranormal talents at the same time.
This book has it all. Mystery, romance, ghosts, and best of all, excitement. Simply put, this one has made my favorites list for this year. The plot was perfectly executed and riveting from the very first page. An engaging debut for a new author that makes me wanting more. I cannot express enough how wonderful this book was and that I think everyone should get a copy and read it for themselves. A great read that left me on the edge of my seat for about the last 50 pages or so. I've just learned that this is the beginning of a series and the next book will be out next year in June. I cannot wait!
