My Rating:My Review:The vampires are tired of living in secret; tired of hiding in the shadows so a few vampires plan a rebellion where they can put the world in its right of order.  Vampires ruling the world as the masters of the humans.  However there are ancient warriors who live in a different world unless they are needed to help the humans.  They fought alongside humans in every major battle on earth though the humans were unaware.  The warriors are the only people who can protect the humans from the vampires but they can only enter this world if invited by conduits, special human descendants of the warriors.  The vampires begin targeting the conduits one by one.  Luca is one of the few blood born vampires (both of his parents were vampires) and is very old and thus have powers that many do not.  Cloe is a conduit, but of course does not know.  An attempt on Cloe's life fails and it brings her into the world of Luca and the vampires.

This is a good storyline with much potential.  I love Linda Howard and really settled in for a good read, but this one was just okay.  It was interesting but I just didn't care about much of anything.  The story was told from many point of views and I enjoyed Cloe's the most.  Surprisingly, there weren't as many parts about her as one would expect.  I connected to Cloe and her plight but surprisingly found it difficult to connect with Luca.  There was often too much information thrown at the reader at once.  Was it up to Linda Howard's typical standards?  No, I don't think so.  Will I read the next one (it's a series)?  You 'betcha.
