Review: Bifesta Makeup Remover

By Trierton @MISC_blog
I've been saving up for a water-based makeup remover for a while now and have always had my eyes set on the Bioderma one. Too bad, though, because it's quite expensive at PHP 1000+. Thank goodness for the Bifesta one (~PHP 420 for a 300 mL bottle). I don't have to spend so much on a quality makeup remover.

The Bifesta Moisture Water Cleansing Lotion (whew!) has been compared to Bioderma a lot (though I've never used the latter). It has four types, I think, suitable for different skin types. The one I have is for the combination-oily skin, Sebum.
On the bottle:Water cleansing lotion that removes makeup thoroughly* Melts and removes oil in makeup* Tightens large pores and controls excessive oil* Cleanses oily skin without irritation* Hypoallergenic* Contains green tea extract (antioxidant) that rejuvenates skin* Contains hyaluronic acid (moisturizer) that makes skin smoother and brighter* When used everyday, the bottle lasts for 1-1.5 months
Remove the outer plastic packaging and you're left with this(the writings are in Japanese so you might want to keep the outer plastic for future reference)
It also has a guard to prevent accidental pressing of the pump and product wastage
TextureThough it says "lotion", the texture is, as I said, watery. When applied on the skin, it's quite slippery so you feel less friction as compared to when you put normal water on your face.
ApplicationI use this Cuddles cotton pad pack (~PHP 30 for 100 pads)
For my everyday makeup (light foundation, concealer, powder), I use just one cotton pad to completely remove the makeup. I also use this as a cleanser when I'm not wearing any makeup but want to clean my face. Upon first using this, I had some minor breakouts (about two or three small pimples) but I guess I've gotten used to the product already since I don't breakout anymore.
PerformanceThe product does a very good job of removing my makeup at the end of the day, even during heavy-makeup days (though my "heavy makeup" is quite light as compared to others: a bit of foundation, concealer, powder, light wash of eyeshadow, light brow shading using the eyeshadow, lipstick).
Points for Improvement* The smellI'm not very fond of the smell of this. It's like stale coconut water; musky, chemical, and unpleasant. That's why I'm not planning to use this to remove lipstick.
All in all, Bifesta is my current HG makeup remover and I'll repurchase when I have run out.
