Retro Revival Blog Challenge Week 1: Snow Day

Posted on the 10 January 2017 by Hmcurator

I got back into answering the Pop Culture League challenges just in time for Brian to disband the League. Retro Rambler offered to continue the concept, and created the Retro Revival Blog Challenge. I was invited to participate, and am happy to do so.

The first week’s challenge is “Snow Day: How did you like to spend snow days?” While I understand that the question is geared toward childhood, I really only remember one snow day. The snow was piled higher than my head, and my friends and I spent the day digging trenches and tunnels and periodically throwing snowballs at each other. Snow is a lot more fun when you don’t have to shovel it, or drive in it…

My commute is not bad, 12.5 miles each way, which usually takes me about half an hour. But there are days when it gets treacherous, and I have reached a point in my life where if the forecast is particularly ominous, I will call into work for a snow day. While part of these days is usually spent shoveling, for the last couple of years I have tried to spend some of the rest of the time with my collection.

Sometimes I will work on this website, sometimes I will photograph items to become exhibits. My most recent project is repacking the storage bins my collection is in. The collection has grown significantly since I started this website, and I have not done a good job of cataloging, photographing and packing items as they come in. It saddens me that while I am working on projects like this, all you, my readers, see is a lack of posts, but I must get a handle on the collection if I am going to continue posting new exhibits.

As of when I am posting this, there have been no other replies to the challenge. Once more come in, I will try to update this post.
