On Wednesday I dropped my son off at camp for the summer. That day used to be such a sad one for ~ crying about how much I'd miss him, worrying if he'd be happy, make friends, learn a new sport...if you've ever sent a child to summer camp you understand. This year, his fifth summer, I smiled knowing he was in one of his most favorite places on earth and gave him a hug and kiss and said I'd write daily and see him soon.
It was a simply beautiful, quintessential summer day so we first sat along the lawn to the water, amidst the manicured herb garden and ordered cocktails and talked about what we'd do this summer while our kids were away. My cocktail was called
Blackberry Fields, a not too sweet blend of Absolut, St. Germain elderflower liqueur and muddled blackberries. My friend had wine and his wife, a limoncello martini...
When it was time for our reservation we moved to a different outdoor table and enjoyed a great meal al fresco. The menu is expansive (and a bit expensive) and they are still willing to adapt to any dietary request.
Did I mention we stayed long enough to watch the sunset? With the big wall of windows in the dining room itself, you can enjoy that view even in winter, just from a different seat.
