Restaurant Review || Cosy Club – Leicester

By Clo Hutch @lashesoflife

One of my besties, Heather, moved to Leicester a while ago to follow the career of her dreams in Fashion. We’re always both so busy nowadays with work and other commitments that we don’t see each other much, but when we do we always an amazing catch-up, so many laughs and a fab time.

I recently went up to Leicester to visit her for the weekend. My first EVER weekend in Leicester! I couldn’t believe I hadn’t been already, having only popped up to Nottingham for the day previously for a girls day. It was great to get away for a girls weekend, and see another city – I keep saying I need to experience more UK cities, but I think it’s just as expensive to go away in the UK for the weekend as it is to go on a European city break, crazy times!

Anyways, on the Saturday evening, after spending the day pretty chilled and blabbering on all day catching up on the goss, and of course the most important things too, we decided to go out for dinner and a few cocktails. The Cosy Club made its way to the top of our go-to list, a cocktail bar in the center of the city, which also has such a wide range of food, it was sure to satisfy whatever we were craving.

We did book, but it didn’t look too busy in the restaurant area when we arrived. We had a great little spot towards the back, and spent a while pondering what to order.

We soon had our cocktail order ready to go. The Cosy Club have quite a decent cocktail list, offering a range of short, long and sparkling cocktails.

Food was another matter. When you have so many different options, it kind of makes it even harder, it’s not like just choosing from a burger list or selection of tapas, you have to choose between all the different cuisines too! Which is obviously great for those who aren’t as indecisive as I am haha.

We finally settled on burgers, Heather the chicken burger and I, fancying a change, the Thai-Spiced Quinoa burger. We also ordered a side of mac and cheese to try out too – We do love mac and cheese! Perhaps it’s the Caribbean in us creeping out – they do make an AWESOME mac.

Cocktails soon arrived, both absolutely delicious, myself a little jealous of Heather’s Blighty cocktail! There’s just something about a prosecco cocktail isn’t there?Food wasn’t too far behind. My veggie burger was delicious. Made with edamame beans, pak choi and wood roasted peppers, the middle was soft, fragrant, and full of flavour, whilst the outside of the burger patty was slightly crisp. The bun was super soft, and I didn’t even regret not having a meat burger! The sweet potato fries were amazing, crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, and the slaw, fresh and crisp.

Heather said that her chicken burger was really good too, with the chicken perfectly cooked, and the whole thing going down a treat.

The side of mac and cheese was a little runny, but was pretty good too. We loved the top bit with the melted cheese on, yummm! Stuffed to the brim, we couldn’t handle a dessert, but stayed for another couple of cocktails before heading of to another bar in Leicester.

Overall, we were definitely satisfied with our choice of place to eat. The burgers were really good, the cocktails even more so, and the service was pretty friendly and efficient. It’s also not that expensive with the food bill only coming to £21.50 and the cocktails only about £7.50 each. I would definitely recommend trying it out if you’re in Leicester. I hear they do a really good brunch too!
