Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya has requested the Inspector General of Police to provide full Police protection to A.P.S.M. Marasinghe, a prison Warden of the Magazine Prison, who was assaulted and threatened with death when a group of suspected underworld criminals broke into his house recently.
The Commissioner General of Prisons has also informed the relevant police station in the area where Marasingha resides to provide protection to this warden and his family members. The Prisons Department has started a preliminary investigation into the incident.
