Report: Adam McKay to Direct ANT-MAN

Variety is reporting that comedy director, Adam McKay, is set to take over for Edgar Wright as director of Marvel’s Ant-Man.  McKay has directed many of Will Ferrell’s movies including both Anchorman movies, which also starred Ant-Man actor, Paul Rudd.  That relationship certainly played a role in McKay’s hiring.

With Guardians of the Galaxy having a very comedic tone, does this mean that they are going to be playing Ant-Man for more laughs too?  Pre-production has been going on for a while so I’m sure McKay will have freedom to make some changes, but with the release date not changing from July 2015 he isn’t going to be able to do much different and meet that deadline. 

It’s an interesting choice, but Marvel is on a roll and seems unable to do wrong at this point.
