Six businesses in Renfrewshire have been recognised with prestigious food hygiene awards, after demonstrating a commitment to exceptional food safety training, measures and practices.

The establishments to receive the Eat Safe Award, a scheme run by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), include:

• The Rowantree Café in Barshaw Park, Paisley
• Capability Scotland’s Corseford School in Kilbarchan
• Walkinshaw Court in Johnstone
• Three sheltered accommodation units run by Hanover Housing

Each of the organisations honoured by the scheme were visited by Councillor Eddie Devine, who is the Convener of the Environment Policy Board at Renfrewshire Council. Commenting on the latest awards, Councillor Devine said:

“We are delighted to be able to announce these awards and I would like to congratulate all those involved for their achievement.

“It is important for the public to know the highest standards have been applied to the preparation of their food. Each of these buildings can now proudly display a certificate showing they have met those standards.”

As well as aiming to recognize excellence in food safety management and food hygiene standards in food serving-businesses, the Eat Safe scheme is pushing to improve public confidence in food products, showing them that their food is prepared with the utmost care.
