Relaxed Looks for the Workplace

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

It’s common to feel like working in an office environment requires a buttoned-up appearance. Many of us think tailored pieces, uncomfortable silhouettes, and clothing you want to fling across the room the second you get home. However, when done right, relaxed looks for the workplace can be completely acceptable.

Relaxed Looks for the Workplace

The thing to know about these types of relaxed looks for work is that they don’t mean sloppy, overly casual or unkempt. These types of outfits should still look polished, pulled together and stylish. Just like special consideration should be taken when wearing denim at work, the same is true for outfits that are easier in appearance.

To give you some ideas and inspiration, I have put together some relaxed looks for the workplace.

Outfit #1

Eileen Fisher is the front runner when it comes to relaxed looks that can be workplace appropriate. I styled a black cardigan with an olive and black printed top and easy pull-on pants, all from Eileen Fisher. I finished the outfit with a pair of olive flats from Botkier and a stone necklace from Chico’s.

Outfit #2

In this sweeping look, I styled these voluminous culottes with a boxy top from Trina Turk. I finished the outfit with a statement necklace from Lizzie Fortunato and beige wedges from Pelle Moda.

Outfit #3

Creating a relaxed look does not require that all the pieces in your outfit be loose and fluid. In this look, I styled this tunic from Cos with a pair of skinny navy pants from Theory. I finished the outfit with a pair of navy pumps from Jimmy Choo and a blue tonal statement necklace.

Outfit #4

This black shirt dress from Eileen Fisher is comfortable and easy to throw on while still looking professional. I styled it simply with a pair of beige slingbacks from Vince Camuto and earrings from Nakamol Design.

Outfit #5

This relaxed jumpsuit from Rachel Comey has an airy crepe finish and a billowy aesthetic. I styled it with a pair of beaded slides and resin hoop earrings.

You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style at work.
