It’s that time of year, the holidays are upon us. Here at Natures Garden we decided to come up with a fun candle recipe using one of our customers’ favorite scents, Reindeer Poo. This recipe uses our sustainable palm wax, whipped Joy Wax, and of course our Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil. Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Embeds
First, we will prepare the reindeer embeds. These will later be placed on the top of the candle. You will need palm wax, brown liquid candle dye, Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil, the Santa and Deer Embed Mold, your scale, and a toothpick. Weigh out 1 oz of Natures Garden’s sustainable palm container wax. Melt the palm wax to 210 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, add 0.1 ounces of Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil. Also, use a toothpick to add the brown candle colorant. Simply dip the toothpick in the brown dye and then into your candle wax. Finally, mix well to incorporate the brown colorant. Normally you would want to pour this wax at 200 degrees Fahrenheit. However, since we are pouring into a plastic mold, pouring at that temperature would likely cause the mold to melt. So, pour the wax at 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Palm Wax Portion of the Candle
Next, we will be creating the blue part of the candle. Prior to creating this portion, or while you are waiting for your wax to melt, use your hot glue gun to adhere to wick to the bottom of the apothecary jar. Make sure the candle wicks are straight and centered. Using a double boiler, melt 16 ounces of the palm container wax to 210 degrees Fahrenheit. Once melted, in the same manner you did before, use a toothpick to add a small amount of blue liquid candle dye. Then, at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit, add 1.5 ounces of Reindeer Poo Fragrance Oil. Mix well. You will want to work quickly so you can pour the palm wax at 200 degrees Fahrenheit. By pouring the wax at a high temperature the crystals will be able to form nicely in the wax. Once the palm wax has set up move to the next step.
Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Prepare the Joy Wax Portion of the Candle
Now, we will be preparing the snow that rests on the top of the palm wax candle. For this part, we will be using Joy Wax. Once again, you will need you scale. Weigh out 3 ounces of Joy Candle Wax. We will not be adding color to this part of the candle. So, once your wax reaches 170 degrees go ahead and add your fragrance oil. Add 0.3 ounces of Reindeer Poo scent and mix to blend the fragrance. Allow the wax to set up a bit. We will be whipping the wax therefore, you want it to have a slush-like consistency. Once it reaches this state, use a spoon to whip the wax. Then, place it on top of the blue palm wax. You want it to look like a blanket of snow. Move quickly to the next step while the wax is still soft.
Reindeer Poo Candle Recipe Add the Finishing Touches
Add two of the reindeer embed you created earlier. These should be placed on top of the white wax so they are slightly sinking in. You do not want to push them in completely, but you do want to use the Joy Wax to hold them in place. Then, do the same with the brown wax balls you created earlier. Once you have added these finishing touches, your candle is ready to use!
