Registrations for Sony’s Global Math Challenge Now Open

Mathematics was one subject that always terrified me. Even now, when I see numbers, I feel my mind shutting down with dread. So I really marvel at those who can play with numbers and actually enjoy solving long mathematical problems. If you or someone you know is one of these Maths whiz, then this news will interest you.

Sony has opened the Registrations (free) for the 4 th Edition of Global Math Challenge (GMC). This is an online contest inviting all Math lovers to test their skill with numbers. GMC is managed by Sony Global Education. It is Supported by The Japan Prime Math Olympic Committee, The New York Academy of Sciences, Beijing Gifted & Talented Education Technology Center.

The 4th edition of GMC will be held during 17th to 19th November, 2016. Participants belonging to various age groups are invited to discover the fun in math while challenging their computational thinking skills. The contest will make challengers solve problems based on creative and logical thinking instead of formulas.

This is the fourth edition of GMC. In the previous three editions, more than 170,000 contestants from over 85 countries participated. The contest is available online in English, Japanese and Chinese.

The Test Questions

Registration Process and Important Dates:

  • Create GMC account on the website: https://www.global-math.com.
  • Log in with GMC account and Register for free by choosing the Home plan.
  • The challenge will be held online during November 17, 2016 at 09:00 - November 19, 2016 at 23:00.
  • This is an international contest. In India, it can be accessed from anywhere through a computer or tablet device.

8 Age-based Courses of Difficulty:

Global Math Challenge is divided in 8 different courses of difficulty so that participants of various age groups and education level can take part. Starting from 1 st grade in elementary school to grown up people with exceptional maths knowledge, anybody can participate.

Participants can try some sample questions of each course on the GMC website ( www.global-math.com/about_course) before deciding which course to take.

The Result

With the Trial & Standard Plan, participants will receive the score and their global ranking soon after the test.

Reward and Recognition:

All contestants who get a high score will receive a special digital certificate which will include the GMC name, score, area and age.
