Reference Resource Mondays: Autumn and Being Busy

Posted on the 30 September 2013 by Kaminomi @OrganizationASG

So thankfully nobody called me out for not having Reference Resource Mondays last week. Nothing about Justin being lazy as usual out there. That’s the best. But before I get to some links, a bit of a shout-out this week is in order.

You see, a few friends of mine in real life finally decided to go start their own podcast site. Called We Are Geeking Out, it covers mostly everything entertainment wise, with a separate Geeking Out podcast which covers games and US stuff, and Otaku Hour podcast, which covers anime/manga. They started a few months ago, and I was supposed to talk about them before. But well…laziness happens. Anyways, now that they have been up for a while and are getting used to podcasting on a consistent basis, guess it makes sense to write about them now. Go stop by, check out what they have so far, and feel free to let me them know what’s good and what’s bad. Don’t worry, if you destroy their podcast they’ll be tough enough to handle the criticism…no seriously, honest!

Anyways, enough of my rambling and advertising. Here’s some reads for you this week. With a little addition that has nothing to do with anime/manga/etc. You’ll definitely be able to tell right away.

  • Charles managed to check out the PBS Idea channel talking about Attack on Titan (or specifically, if Titans are evil). Just reminding people you might want to check out this video.
  • J.G makes an attempt to talk about why Attack on Titan, despite its shounen trappings, manages to be as popular as it is.
  • Sean gets his hands on Vol 1 of Vinland Saga. Will this be a title to look out for? Kodansha better hope so!
  • “Being normal is SO overrated” B-but I like being normal Tony…
  • We have a post on Silver Spoon? We have a post on Silver Spoon. I should finally go watch the last few episodes at some point…
  • See, there ARE ways to have a painless argument about anime on the internet–*sees the picture at the end of the post*…Um…uh…
  • Oh, why look at that, an almost similar (at least in tone) post as well. I sense a theme…
  • See? More with this tone about criticism!…Although this is actually quite different. Ok, I’m done now.
  • Not another anime is dy–oh wait, they’re just growing up? Well ok now…
  • Finally, a good question for the rest of your day (or evening, wherever you are): Why do I still watch anime?

It's a little depressing that the defining anime of The Cart Driver isn't Code Geass, Hetalia, Jojo's or Death Note. Nope, it's Guilty Crown

@Kami_nomi @ReisengRath He's doing a bad job then. I don't hate him, sometimes I wish he'd stop breathing but that's not hate.

Read an interview with @Kami_nomi. The closer I get to middle aged the more I realize "Anime fandom keeps staying young but I do not."
