This is going to be an uneventful Reference Resource Mondays. I swear it is. But first, just something I want to make clear to each and everybody: anime is for children.

It’s hardly a secret, but I sincerely want to get this out the way. Anime has, and will always be for children. That’s why people eventually stop watching it because people convince them that anime is for little kids. This is one example.
The media is another example:

Doraemon, which will air on Disney XD, is another example of an anime that’s going to adhere to children’s sensibilities:
NVM the original version where Doraemon is hurt. Doesn’t matter.
So the media claims that a kinky “textbook” is for children and Doraemon will definitely be for kids only, so why would you watch Doraemon? It’s clearly for kids!
So when anyone tells you that a fanservice heavy show like Queen’s Blade is for kids because it’s anime, tell them, “You know what, you’re right, that’s true!”
When anyone tells you that a violent, cussing 50% of the time show like Black Lagoon is for kids because it’s anime, tell them, “You know what, you’re right, that’s true!”
And when anyone tells you that a story about a 30 year old salaryman who has to suddenly care for a child because the grandpa — note, grandpa — is dead and the mother — a young woman — ran away called Bunny Drop is for kids because it’s anime, tell them, “You know what, you’re right, that’s true!”
Because it’s true. History for anime on TV in the US, and who cares about the late night shows on Adult Swim, shows that anime is for kids, and for kids only. So that means everyone over 13 needs to give it up and grow up!
Now, let’s get to Reference Resource Mondays and good reads before I start dissecting the piece about Oreimo proving that it’s totally for kids.
- Yi talks about Silver Spoon, and how it brings up an ethical view when it comes to animals, and how inconsistent humans can be when it comes to the treatment of them.
- Oh hey, Anigamers is running a contest! And hey, it’s also an anniversary post too! It’s two in one!
- Get a look into how it’s like to serve as staff at a convention.
- Have a listen into the history of sports manga and anime that Tom did at Fanime.
- Oh hey look, Frog-Kun manages to point out just how Raku’s reason for liking Onodera is dated!…While casually mentioning Onodera sucks.
- We find out that Fanime kinda sucked. Well, for one person at least. Ok, it wasn’t that bad: there is a great picture included in this post.
- SorrowsNeptune has a great write up of the making anime panel at Fanime with the director of Oreimo & Viper’s Creed, Hiroyuki Kanbe. At it she talks about how he explained how a material is decided to become an anime, the process it entails, and even did some live-drawings. Sounds awesome to me!
- Finally, Answerman writes about the long history, from beginning to end, of retail chain to licensor to now dead Anime Crash.

We may not always agree on what #anime is the best, but what we can all agree on, is that #anime has helped change who we were 2 who we are.
