Making a omelette isn't the first thing you'd think of making with a panini maker but bear with me! It's quick, easy to tidy up afterwards and makes a light and fluffy omelette.
To start you need eggs, just eggs no milk. I don't add milk to scrambled eggs or omelettes as it adds to much moisture. We want to taste the eggs not watered down eggs!
Pre-heat your panini grill. Whilst it is heating up get two eggs (this is for a one person omelette). Whisk them up in a bowl and set aside until your grill is ready.
Add your filling ingredients e.g. Tomatoes to the grill. Add the eggs slowly or they will run down your grill and into the fat catcher. If this happens, don't worry you can scoop the excess and add again. Add your extra ingredients such as cheese (ingredients that don't need to be cooked so much). Close the lid and cook for around one minute.
Roll up the omelette like a cigar. Eat the omelette like this or cut into smaller pieces.
I was surprised at how little mess was left. I was expecting carnage! This is the panini grill after removing the omelette.
Ideal for a quick breakfast, lunch or making Japanese style omelettes - that's my next practice session.
