Mrs. Alyona Kapoor as a Mother - Please tell us about yourself and your motherhood journey so far?

Nothing in life prepares you for motherhood. You may fall back on the lessons you learn from your parents, you may take help of the numerous tips that were passed on to you via your grandparents, parents and other relatives or friends. But each child comes with their own unique character and personality, you learn it all along the way. The key is to enjoy every experience.

Children grow up too fast, so cherish every moment, keep your sense of humor intact during the trying teen phase and eventually become their friend in adulthood. Become someone who they will trust and be there for them when they need you without becoming too intrusive. As Khalil Gibran said, 'Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you yet they belong not to you.'

You are a wife of a celebrity, we all respect and know Chef of India, Master Chef Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor. Being a wife of a celebrity I am sure the journey would not be an easy one. You have a pressure to face at times, you must have played dual role of mom and dad. Please share your Experience on managing the two roles.

Sanjeev and I have always been hands on parents. Since the time our elder daughter Rachita was 40 days old, we had Savitri Amma with us who would look after everything. She pretty much was a part of our family, and I never had to worry about the smallest of things when she was around.

Also, by 2004, my mother in law came to stay with us, which made handling things easier. Not to forget, Sanjeev has always managed time for the kids and played an equal part in raising them. From school events to special days, he used to adjust his schedules accordingly so that he could be present at all such functions. So, I have never felt any parental pressure, it's been a breeze if I may say so. The years just whizzed past.

How important is a role of a parent in a child's life? Do you and Mr Kapoor believe in the equal responsibility of a child? Please suggest some thoughts and your experience on equal parenting.

Parents are the most important people in a child's life as it's from them the child imbibes their value systems. And I'm happy that both Rachita and Kriti have been able to do so.

They have a sense of responsibility which they developed by observing both of us. But at the same time, its very important to let a child be free and make their own decisions, ensuring that you're always there by their side to guide them. Even in Sanjeev and my case, we were never forced to do anything as children. As I mentioned in the previous answer, we do believe in sharing the responsibilities and Sanjeev has played that role extremely well. I'm thankful to God for that!

We all are moms at first place, it is so challenging yet motivated to work and be a mom at the same time. Please share your journey, challenges and parenting mantra with us.

Rachita and Kriti are both obedient yet smart kids. Both of them have always been grounded, always did well while at school and now in their higher studies as well, they are shining. They made parenting easy for us and we've been lucky that way! Sanjeev and I do not go out of the way to teach them any special values. They see us respect people around us including our parents; they learn from things around them. We let them shape their own personality. We also indulge our daughters, but without spoiling them. Ensuring that while they aim for the stars, their feet are firmly rooted to the ground.

I recently saw an episode of Family Food Tales with Mrs. Alyona Kapoor. How did this come up and what are the challenges as a mom you face to manage your second inning?

It all started with my family, friends and fellow colleagues encouraging me to share the numerous stories revolving around food and my family, with my viewers. Also, food has been an important part of my life since my childhood days, and hence when this project came up, I was really glad to be part of it. The team has done a great job to bring everything together and put up a fabulous show!

My family and kids have always been supportive, right from the time I got married to Sanjeev and his unconventional career. So, I've been lucky that way to not have faced any difficulty as such during the second innings too. Of course, the kids are grown up now and I get immense help from them in managing everything. As I said, I'm really blessed to have two daughters, they've always made me proud!

What are the achievements and your future plans? Our readers would love to see you on TV any plans to start a TV series.
