Reading Challenges #SundaySalon #Happy2023

By Joyweesemoll @joyweesemoll

I joined two challenges in 2022, the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge 2022 hosted by The Adventures of An Intrepid Reader and the Diversity Reading Challenge hosted at Celebrity Reader.

I posted a recap of the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge a couple of weeks ago - I doubled my original goal of five books, but don't expect to read so much in 2023.

I planned to read five books for the Diversity Reading Challenge and I doubled that, too. Seven of these were books that were read with my book club that specializes in reading books about race in America. Here are the ten books that I counted for that challenge:

I'll use this post to register my intention to join the 2023 Diversity Reading Challenge. I'll sign up for five books again.

I participate in the Goodreads Reading Challenge each year. Last year, I signed up for 40 books and read 45 - so I met my goal!

I expect to read fewer books in 2023 since I'll be devoting more time to writing the first readable draft of the novel that I've been playing around with for three years. However, you wouldn't guess that I was planning to read less if you saw my To-Be-Read list. I'm still working out how I'm going to make two conflicting goals compatible.

Given the Diversity Reading Challenge and the books that I'll read to research my novel, I feel confident about joining the 2023 Nonfiction Reading Challenge hosted by Book'd Out. I'll sign up at the Nonfiction Nibbler level, a commitment to read six nonfiction books in 2023.

I'll link today's post to Sunday Salon at the Readerbuzz blog. One of my resolutions is to write more Sunday Salon posts.

Happy New Year, everyone!
