One of the many events that surround the Great American Beer Festival is the annual Pints for Prostates Rare Beer Tasting. The event offers beer aficionados with an opportunity to taste some of the rarest and most difficult to obtain beers in the country. And, to make it even better, it’s all for a good cause – prostate cancer awareness.

Pints for Prostates began as a grassroots campaign seeking to raise awareness among men about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection in fighting the disease. The group was founded in 2008 after beer journalist Rick Lyke was diagnosed at 47-years-old and successfully treated for prostate cancer.

According to the group’s website, 191,930 new prostate cancer cases were diagnosed among U.S. men in 2020, that means more than 3,691 men hear the words “You have prostate cancer” each week. That’s a sobering number.

This year, the fourteenth annual event looks to have some fun while opening up conversations about a very serious subject. Among the many outstanding beers that will be served this year are Sam Adam’s 2019 Barrel Aged Vixen & Utopias Specialty Blend, Jester King’s SPON Three Year Blend, and Lost Abbey’s Cable Car.

The Pints for Prostates Rare Beer Tasting takes place:

Fri, Sep 22 at 12:00-4:00 PM

144 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80202, USA

Tickets to the event are $200 per person, proceeds benefit Pints for Prostates.
