Rapoo 3510 Plus Wireless Optical Mouse Review: Love at First Sight

When I plan to buy a wireless mouse, two things cross my mind - whether it works effortlessly on the surface of my choice, and how long can it last without a battery replacement. The ergonomics of the device is equally important, but let's face it, not many manufacturers play with that basic design that we have been seeing since ages (Logitech keeps doing it now-and-again, kudos to them), unless when it is a gaming mouse then the narrative changes altogether. The 3510 Plus by Rapoo is similar in design but gains an edge due to its looks. Or not? Let's find out this and other things in this review of the Rapoo 3510 Plus and see whether it is worth your money next time you are in the hunt for an optical mouse for your day-to-day usage.

As mentioned earlier, there is nothing new as far as the buttons and the wheel placement is concerned. Yet it looks different, thanks to the 'soft fabric cover' that covers the top shell of the device, which gives a premium touch to the mouse, giving it an edge over its competition. The practical advantage of this textural cloth covering is that the user does not have to worry about wet or sweaty palms anymore - one can just dive back in to work after that short snack break without having to search for a napkin. So far so good, but the fabric is a dirt magnet! Within two weeks of usage, accumulated dirt was visible at the point where our fingers go, making it look highly unattractive to the onlooker.

My colleagues who were going gaga over the design of Rapoo 3510 Plus when they first saw it, were now happy to stay away from it after I had used it a fair bit. Rapoo must consider using a texture that can be easily cleaned using a wet-wipe or think of alternative ways to solve this problem.

The mouse measures a mere 113x64x30 mm, ergo it easily fits into small palms as well. It weighs just 80 g and can be easily carried in the rear pocket of your denim if you remember not to sit while it is still in there. The fabric also results in a non-slippery ideal grip, which is not the case with other optical mice.

The rear houses the on/off toggle switch along with the sensor featuring the ' Invisible Optical' technology. A button on the rear dislocates the upper shell, which can be then removed to reveal the battery compartment. The nano-receiver can also be placed within the mouse body when not in use, making the device portable in its truest sense. The mouse comes in three color variants, viz. black, grey, and blue.

Tracking speed of 30-inches per second combined with a maximum resolution of 1000 DPI makes the Rapoo 3510 Plus a stunner performer. Transmission distance of 10 meters combined with 2.4G connection makes sure the mouse is connected and usable while preventing any sort of link jamming at the same time. Invisible Optical tracking essentially means that the optical light generated by the sensor is invisible to the naked eye. The wheel movement is seamless as well. I have tried the mouse on usual surfaces such as the wooden table, bed, floor, and plastic body of the laptop, and it has not disappointed.

The battery used is a single AA cell. I have been using it for a couple of months now, and there are no issues as far as the battery capacity is concerned. I think the 12-month claim just might be true.

  • 1000 DPI tracking engine with Invisible Optical tracking
  • 4G wireless connection that works up to 10 meters
  • Battery life of one year
  • Soft fabric cover
