Random # Survey

By Beautybutafunnygirl @beutybutfunygrl

The Random # Survey is created by Melissa @ Harley Bear Book Blog.

Here’s how it works:
  1. Pick a number. Keep in mind how many books you have.
  2. Go to your bookshelf. Count that many books until you reach your number and answer the question with that book.
  3. Count the same number of books from where you left off and answer the next question.
  4. Repeat until you finish the survey. If you land on a book you haven't read yet, pick the closest book to the left that you have read and then count on from there for the next question. You can also add a picture of your bookshelf!
I have a pretty fair amount of books, almost 200, and they're all arranged in alphabetical order by order, then series chronological order. Yes, that's how anal I am. I was going to pick my favorite number, but seeing as that it's 3 the books would be pretty repetitive and I wouldn't get too far down my bookshelf, so I went with my second favorite number: 13. I did have to circle back around once, but that happens. I also skipped my classics shelf for two reasons: It's on the other side of the room and I forgot about it. Oops
What do you think of the cover?
Kindred by Octavia E. Butler I like the cover. It's not one of my favorites, but there's something about it that pulls me into the story. I also like that the slave cabins are in black and white.
Write a review in 140 characters or less?
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare Great conclusion to the series, but after that epilogue I don't want to feel anymore.
How or where did you get this book?
Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding
I got the book from a library sale when I was at my mom's for the weekend.
Who's your favorite character in this book and why?
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Tea Cake! He is such a great person and cared about Janie so much. He even braved hurricane flooding and a rabid dog to save her.
Recommend this book to a fellow blogger you think would like it.
The Dark-Hunters, Vol. 2 by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Bec from Ransom Reads. I know she likes Anime, so this Manga would be right up her alley. :)
How long ago did you read this book?
Devil May Cry by Sherrilyn Kenyon
According to Goodreads, I read this back in 2007. The exact date isn't right because it was pre-Goodreads, but I know the year is right.
Name a favorite scene from this book (NO SPOILERS).
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
ONE of my favorite scenes has got to be when Cinder, Peony, and Iko are in the garbage dump taking parts from an old car (before everything goes to hell in a hand basket). The relationship between Cinder and Peony is lovely and makes later events of the novel just that much more heartbreaking. However, I also think that it is because of Peony that Cinder finds her strength and the courage to do what she does.
Open to page 87 and pick a random quote to share (NO SPOILERS).The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
First Mr. Willard drove and then I drove. I don't know what we talked about, but as the countryside, already deep under old falls of snow, turned us a bleaker shoulder, and as the fir trees crowded down from the gray hills to the road edge, so darkly green they looked black, I grew gloomier and gloomier.
How did you hear about or discover this book?
The Cather in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
This is easy. High School!
If you could redesign the cover, what would you do?
See Jane Die by Erica SpindlerI get why she's in the water, it pertains to the book, but I do not like the font treatment. The color reminds me of vomited pea soup. So I would change that color, make Spindler's name smaller, and the book title larger.
Who's your least favorite character in this book and why?
A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf
There are none
Fill in the blank. If you like __________, then you should try (your book).
The Crush by Sandra Brown
I read this book years ago, but remember really enjoying it. I can't think of an exact book to compare it to, but if you like thrillers and mysteries with a psycho serial killer, this is definitely the book for you.
Name one cool thing about this book (under the dust jacket, map, font, photograph, etc.).
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
The Angel pendant on the cover is raised. It's also shiny.
Where is it set and would you ever want to visit that world/place?
A Darkness Strange and Lovely by Susan Dennard
As long as les mortes aren't running around, I'm down to go to Paris anytime!
Who is it dedicated to?
The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
"For Amsler. Thanks for the milk."
Now I'm supposed to tag three other people, but I don't wanna. If you want to do it, do it. If you don't, don't do it. I'm super nice like that - not forcing people to do things for me. Unless you're my boyfriend. All is fair in love and war.
