நித்ய கல்யாணி, நயனதாரா அல்லது பட்டிப்பூ என்றும் சுடுகாட்டுப்பூ (பூச்செடி) என்றும் அழைக்கப்படும் செடி, மடகாஸ்கரில் மட்டுமே காணப்பட்ட ஒருவகைச் செடியாக இருந்தது. பின்னர் இது வெப்பமண்டலப் பகுதிகளுக்கும், மென்வெப்பமண்டலப் படுதிகளுக்கும் பரவியது.
Catharanthus roseus, (Nithya Kalyani) commonly known as bright eyes, Cape periwinkle, graveyard plant, Madagascar periwinkle, old maid, pink periwinkle, rose periwinkle, is a perennial species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae. Flowers are usually solitary in the leaf axils. Each has a calyx with five long, narrow lobes and a corolla with a tubular throat and five lobes.
