Radio Show Recap: Does Your Guy Need Some Good Grooming?

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

Let’s face it, when it comes to guys, grooming isn’t always the first we think of.  I know for myself that a skincare regimen or a eye lifting serum are the last things on my husband’s mind.  Yet, the grooming industry for men is BOOMING and, in today’s times, becoming more and more crucial.

That said, on last Friday’s radio show we talked all about guys and grooming with two of the best guests on the topic.  If your guy needs to up his grooming game or if he has been secretly stealing your beauty products, this was a must-listen-to show  to get the 411 on the basic necessities of good grooming and style for men.

First, we welcomed Brian Boye, fashion and grooming editor of Men’s Health Magazine, the world’s largest men’s lifestyle magazine brand with international editions in 45 countries and a worldwide readership of 23 million.  Through eye-catching fashion visuals and grooming features, Brian Boye brings a new perspective to looking good to more than 12 million men each month who want to combine good health with great style. The emphasis is on real clothing and grooming advice for real guys.  During the show, Brian provided us with some fantastic tips including the basic grooming products every guy should own, the importance on grooming and easy ways a guy can look great and stylish in his basic wardrobe items.  We also talked about the magazine’s must-read “Annual Grooming Awards” found in their June issue (available on newsstands now.)

Next, Frank Figlia, who is a watch and timepiece veteran with over 39 years in the industry with such companies as Baume & Mercier, Delaneau, Eberhard, Maurice Lacroix, Glashutte Original and now as the president of Fortis Watches for North America and the Caribbean, talked about the importance of a watch for a man.  If you think that a watch is simply strapped on a wrist to tell time you’d be dead wrong.  A watch to a man is the equivalent of a pair of shoes to a woman and also is indicative of things like personality, lifestyle, career and values.  As a man develops his style and his station in life, nothing speaks more loudly about who he is than by the watch he is wearing.  How much does a good quality watch cost?  What should you look for in a watch?  All these questions and more were answered by Frank during the show.

In addition, Frank also chatted with me about Fortis Watches, a fantastic niche brand celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.  Focused primarily in aviation and space travel (all cosmonauts wear a Fortis watch, which means that Fortis watches have circled the earth more than 100,000 times), this brand not only appeals to those engaging in pastimes like aviation or who have an interest in space, but to those where these sorts of lifestyle activities are appealing in a more vicarious manner.  Functional as well as stylish, the Fortis watch is a must-have item for everyone from the serious collector to someone looking for a more affordable quality timepiece that will last.
