Racing Glaciers – First Light

Posted on the 12 May 2014 by Spectralnights

A five piece hailing from Macclesfield and already playing a prestigious slot at Radio 1’s One Big Weekend festival, unsigned Racing Glaciers have released the first single, ‘First Light’, from their third EP ‘Don’t Wait for Me’, which will be released in the summer by the brilliant Killing Moon label. Opening with stadium-sized guitar lines, Tim Monaghan’s vocals are soon brought to the fore as he discusses a hard break up: ‘Biting your tongue and biding your time’. With brass, keys and the guitars all in unison, the band may have their roots in post-rock but there is also a delightfully accessible everyman pop aesthetic in the verses before the song ascends with panache.
