Quit Smoking for Good in 2013

By Remielund @remsluxuryblog

This is a rather unusual post for me to write, it’s not about buttercream frosting, extortionate beauty products or the latest IT bags. However, this post could help you to afford more beauty buys and take you one step closer to getting your hands on that Celine bag you so desperately desire. It’s about smoking and everything that comes with it. A lot of my friends smoke and I used to smoke over 20 cigarettes a day. More if I went out for a drink. Three years ago I quit and it was easy. Here’s how…

First I just want to let you in on a little secret. Everyone thinks that quitting smoking is so hard that it is crazy to even try. But before you resign yourself to a life of smoking, let me just say that it actually takes little if any willpower at all. I know you are all probably laughing out loud at this statement but it’s true. As a reader of my blog you will probably know that I have little willpower when it comes to anything. I can’t resist cakes, any cheese related item and don’t get me started about my obsession with overpriced makeup, bags, hotels, I could go on. If giving up smoking had been hard, I would still be on 20 cigs a day. Since then I have saved over £6000 (that’s 4 Celine’s).

So, I decided to read Alan Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking and I read it in one day. You are allowed to smoke throughout the whole book but as you turn each page at some point something miraculous happens and you no longer want to or need to smoke. I was expecting horror stories about the dangers of smoking and I new this wouldn’t make me quit as I already knew about why I shouldn’t smoke. This book makes you question why you smoke and it makes you see through every excuse you can think of regarding how much you love smoking.

After reading this book, I learnt a lot about Nicotine addiction and the info in the book makes a lot of sense. For example, many people try to quit using patches but this is still giving you nicotine and therefore you will still crave it. Only once there is no nicotine left in your system can you feel like you don’t need to smoke. This is why cutting down doesn’t work and only leaves you feeling miserable. The book is only £6 on Amazon! Are you trying to quit in 2013? What would you do with the extra pennies? Let me know how you get on!
