It is quite interesting to see how this design has evolved from blankets to furniture. This is a new trend in interior design; the key is bringing in the right amount of quilted pieces into your home. Even though quilts look traditional, it is easy to blend in this style of furniture with eclectic, modern or retro designs. I can totally see any of these furniture in my house.. how about you?
Continuing my quest on furniture's.. I have written about stripes on sofas, floral furniture, leather sofas and mixing furniture colors. This blog page is on quilted furniture. Quilts have provided warmth for centuries and go back to ancient Egypt and China where layers of fabrics where stitched together to create heavier blankets for comfort. Patterns and colors where then added to the top layer for beauty. By 18th century, quilts became popular in England and France and by the 19th century they became very popular in America. For more in-depth information on how quilts evolved in America, click on Quilt Discovery Experience. I also found an old quilt made around 1360's in Sicily, Italy:
