The new gTLD .Web is scheduled to go to an ICANN auction, on July 27th.

There are 8 companies in the auction and 3 of them are public.

The public companies are Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), Web.com (NASDAQ: WWWW) and Cimpress NV (NASDAQ: CMPR) which is the parent company of Vistaprint Limited.

Google has a market cap close to $500 Billion, Web.com has a market cap of $1.26 Billion while Cimpress NV market cap is $3.15 Billion.

The other applicants for .Web are Donuts, Radix, NU DOT CO LLC which are the people behind .Co which was sold to Neustar, Afilias, and Schlund Technologies GmbH, which is a “registrar with operations throughout Europe”.

So the question is not who will win the auction but how much .Web will sell for.

The highest ICANN auction to date is for .Shop which sold for $41.5 million.
