She was looking from the corner of her eye towards me as I was overtaking the cycle on my motor bike. I smiled to her. She smiled back with a glimmer in her eyes.
“ Papa! Papa! Why don’t you buy a motor bike,” she questioned her father so loudly that it was audible to me. It looked like she was not questioning her father but God who didn’t give a motor bike to her father.
Her father already panting saw towards me and said, “ One day I will Navika."
And he tried harder to overtake me.
I lowered my speed deliberately.
“ He lost,” announced Navika cheerfully with clapping hands. The father looked at me and bowed his head a little as to say thank you.
And the cheerfulness of Navika still fills my heart with joy
