It made me stop and think. I’ve been a runner for 10 years now, but I’ve always started my runs from home. Driving somewhere first would just be too much hassle. Besides, I wouldn’t trust myself to get out of the car, and actually run! But books about running are a great inspiration, and Lola planted a seed that blossomed last Sunday! I actually drove 5 miles to a nearby village, to run 6 miles to another village! In total I ran 12 miles.
I didn’t like the drive though: as I reached places that normally take me 30 minutes in 5 minutes, it somehow felt wrong, and way too easy. So it was with great relief I parked my car, and started my run. I was heading for a restaurant resting on a small mountain, with great views.
There’s a sign!
I always get lost, so there were some moments when I worried: ‘Am I going in the right direction?’ but after about 5 miles there was a sign pointing to the restaurant. I sighed with relief and reached the restaurant soon after. It was built using lots of wood, and it looked like a cabin. I enjoyed my cup of coffee and the views, and then I headed back my car. This time I wasn’t worried about getting lost, because even I can find my way back.
Let’s do this again
I have to admit: it’s nice to explore strange new worlds, and go where I have never gone before. The only part I didn’t like, was the car drive. All in all, I feel proud for pushing my boundaries as a runner.
