These charts shows the results of a new Quinnipiac University Poll -- done between November 14th and 19th of a national sample of 1,046 voters, with a margin of error of 3.5 points.
Donald Trump did his best to make the 2018 midterm election about him. He thought that would help Republicans by bringing his base out to vote. That turned out to be a big mistake. His base did turn out in large numbers, but Democrats and Independents turned out in larger numbers -- and they did that to oppose Trump and his policies.
The charts above illustrate why it was a mistake to make the election about Trump. The people don't like Trump or the job he is doing.
The public does not approve of the job Trump is doing by about 13 points. They think he is dishonest by about 22 points. They think he has poor leadership skills by about 13 points. They don't think he cares about average Americans by about 11 points. They think he is not level-headed by about 31 points. And they say he doesn't share their values by about 26 points.
Unless he approves all of those numbers significantly, he faces a disastrous election in 2020.
