Public Has A Split Personality About Donald Trump

A new poll shows America has what could be considered a split personality over the impending Trump presidency. Or maybe they are just trying to be positive in spite of their fears.
The poll shows that 59% say they are optimistic about the next four years with Trump as president -- and almost half the population (49%) think he will be a good president (see top two charts).
But in that same poll (see charts at bottom), about 52% say Trump is dishonest (10 points more than those saying he is honest) -- and 57% say he is not level-headed (19 point more than those thinking he is level-headed).
I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to interpret those results. How can you be optimistic and think Trump will be a good president, when you think he is dishonest and not level-headed? Is this just unwarranted optimism? Or do people think being level-headed and honest are not important requirements for a president. If the latter is the case, then I have to disagree. I think they are very important requirements for a president.
All of these charts represent the results of a new Quinnipiac University Poll -- done between November 17th and 20th of a random national sample of 1,071 voters, with a 3 point margin of error.
