Congress is not at all popular with the public these days, but the two political parties in Congress are not viewed equally. While neither party has majority approval with the general public, the Democrats are viewed a bit more favorably than the Republicans. In two new polls, most (all adults, Independents, Democrats) view the congressional Democrats more favorably, while only Republicans view congressional Republicans more favorably.
The Gallup Poll was done on September 26th and 27th of a random national sample of 1,009 adults, with a margin of error of 4 points.
The Economist / YouGov Poll was done between October 1st and 3rd of a random national sample of 1,500 adults (including 1,298 registered voters), with a 3.1 point margin of error.
