PROJECT L.B.G. // Leighton’s Big Girl Room

By Erika Brechtel @smallshopstudio

It’s recently come to my attention that my daughter is about to grow out of her converted crib, which means 3 things: 1) She’ll need a twin bed; 2) it’s time to redecorate; and 3) she’s not my baby anymore.

The third realization hit me the hardest, and so to make myself feel better over the past few weeks, I’ve been working here and there on a new scheme for her room. But it wasn’t until my talented friend Elizabeth recommended this white/blue boho-errific elephant lamp that I really saw it starting to somewhat coagulate into a semi-coherent plan:

It’s still in the very early planning phase so I hesitate to even share! Hopefully you can see I’m attempting to keep the two yellow pieces we have, and insert more bright pink (her fave color), but tempering it all with natural and indigo blue. I also really wanted to infuse a bit of Hawaiian flair with the quilt, maybe a pineapple or two, and how about this vintage ad from Libby’s Pineapples, where my mom worked her first summer job? Love that. ;o)

Anyway, here are a few of my inspiration images. More to come!
