As a sales representative, your full time job is to represent the company that is paying your salary, benefits, expenses and commissions. Shouldn’t that go without saying? Bringing in a new product and or service while you are being paid by someone else, even if the new product has nothing to do with your current offering, is not something that a professional representative should ever do.
Imagine the confusion this causes your accounts– they will wonder if you can be counted on to service their account, or if you will be too busy taking care of customers for your other business. Imagine their frustration when you make a promise and break it, even if unintentionally. One thing is certain, you will look very unprofessional to your accounts. They may not tell you, but they will think less of you and both of your offerings and will find other companies to use for both.
