This product review was requested by Victoria of Makeup Etcetera and while shooting photos a few days ago, I decided to make it a series of post showcasing not only the product she requested a review on, but also my (lazy) morning makeup routine. Lazy cos I only use three products, mehehehe.
I seriously wish I have the perfect face and flawless skin so I can be like “whatever world, i’m going out face-naked" (imagine the time and effort that would save on my part! HA!) but anyway… I’ve long accepted that good skin requires good maintenance, which is why I’m back to abusing my Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion. (See also my morning skincare + makeup routine)
It is specifically for combination/oily skin and it claims to be an “all-in one oil balance, moisturisation and UV protection.” To be completely honest, I was skeptical on how this could be mattifying AND moisturizing at the same time. I’ve always associated matte = shine-free and moisturizing = shiny/oily. Quite contradicting, right?
L-R: (1st pic) clean face with only toner applied | (2nd pic) small dotted amount applied all over my face | (3rd pic) I blended it out.
Okay, here goes the verdict. It’s greasy/oily after application, but not so much like you applied baby oil on your face or something. Sure it made my face matte but only for two hours, and then that’s it… my face becomes oily again. This product failed me on the mattifying aspect, but in terms of moisturizing, I can say it’s okay. It has a lightweight feel and it made my skin soft and supple. Will I repurchase? Not really. Just finishing this up!
Ohh and heads up, this has a strong scent. Not the bad smell, but it has a distinct odor (of seaweed I suppose? loljk, I’m not sure of the smell of that). I know some are picky so I thought I point that out too. Anyway, watch out for part 2 and 3 of this morning makeup routine series! It will be a product review of Benefit’s Fake Up and Happy Skin’s Don’t Get Mad Get Even foundation, respectively. If you have any questions or suggestions or anything.. just tweet me or leave a message in the comment section!
PRICE: I don’t know the individual price of this cos mine is part of the Seaweed skin care set I bought last year, which is on sale.
