Between the royal outing of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the explosive BBC interview of Prince Andrew on Jeffrey Epstein, it was a year of scandals for the royal family.
According to former royal lady-in-waiting Lady Glenconner, the scandals made Prince Charles' long-standing desire to "reduce the size" of the royal family.
She also shared her views on other members of the current royal family, including Charles' wife, Camilla, and Prince William and Kate Middleton in the interview with Tatler magazine.

The royal family had a year. Between the disastrous Prince Andrew BBC interview about Jeffrey Epstein and the royal release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, The Firm has been plagued by "scandal" after another in recent times.

According to a friend of the royal family, at least one family member is not totally crazy about the rocky year.

Lady Glenconner, a former maid of honor to Princess Margaret, says the scandals have fulfilled one of Charles' longstanding royal wishes.

"Prince Charles has always wanted to refine the royal family," she said in a recent interview with Tatler magazine, according to Daily Mail. "Now he has it in spades! There is almost none left!"

Lady Glenconner, who was also a bridesmaid at the Queen's coronation in 1953, also shared her personal opinions on a few other members of the royal family.

She called Charles' wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, "wonderful" and added that she has a "charming sense of humor ... she did [Prince Charles] so happy."

And, of the younger generation of the royal family, the former courtier said: "Prince William and Kate are wonderful. The Duchess of Cambridge, of course, is the star of the moment."
