Pretty Vexed Leather Workshop

By Jollygoodstudio @JollyGoodStudio
Friday sees the start of the inaugural Scottish Jewellery Week and I for one couldn't be more excited. Part of the programme is the Vanilla Ink end of year show and looking at some of the designers social media feeds it looks like it's gonna be a good 'un! To raise some funds for the show the Inkers shared their skills in a series of special one off classes. As much as I would have loved to go to all of them I was only able to pick one and boy did I pick well.
I decided to go for the final class in the series - Leathersmithing hosted by Pamela Goodman of Pretty Vexed. A graduate of DJCAD I remember being extremely impressed by Pamela's degree show work so I was rather excited abut learning from her.

As with all Vanilla Ink classes I've attended our group was warmly welcomed. Materials were provided and each step of the process was explained and demonstrated in a way even I could understand. I hadn't done any leatherwork before and the class was a great introduction into it, giving a good knowledge base and an interest to take it forward. Plus a handy workbook to take home. In the three hour class I managed to make a keyring and a phone case. Not bad for a complete beginner.

As well as making our own items we also got a little peek at some Pretty Vexed samples. The new collection is being launched at Scottish Jewellery Week and I can't wait to see it in all it's glory.
