Pretty Or Pretty Ugly? Alexander McQueen Glove Clutch

By Bridgetteraes @BridgetteRaes

Don’t you just hate it when your fingertips get a chill? What is a woman with hot hands but icy fingers to do, I ask you?

Well never fear, McQueen is here to save the day through the way of the wackiest fashion accessory I’ve seen in a long time.

Actually, before we laugh too much, if you think about it, these are just the opposite of fingerless gloves.   Perhaps these glove tips are repurposing at its finest, I mean, where do all those fingerless glove tips go once they get cut off?   I can’t help but think of the classic Seinfeld Muffin Stump episode.  Yet, I don’t want to just talk about this ‘finger warmer’ concoction, I also want to talk about the Alexander McQueen Glove Clutch.  Have you seen it?  Look, I love a clutch but hate having to actually hold it.  It’s cumbersome, doesn’t let me use both hands and can be a total pain at a cocktail party while you’re trying to reach for a passed hors d’oeuvre and have a wine glass in one hand a your purse in another.  However, a glove attached to a purse hardly seems like the most practical solution.   Hasn’t anyone ever heard of a shoulder strap?

Anyway, because I like to have fun when I style and I like to see if it is possible to make something so wacky work, I decided to put together some looks using Alexander McQueen’s Glove Clutch.  Few of you will probably ever buy it, and even less probably have the disposable income to waste on something so silly and frivolous, so, wherever you see one of these clutches, feel free to insert a more practical bag in its place.

If you notice, those shoes are from Target.  After all, after you plunk down all your money on the handbag you’ll have little left over.  Generally speaking, as far as this look is concerned, many people love a white dress but don’t know how to wear it without looking like a nurse.  Look at a white dress like you would a black dress, like a clean canvas.  Here, I started with the bold blue clutch, added some printed heels and then let the pink found in the print dictate the color of the earrings.

A night out does not mean that black is your only option.  As you know, I don’t wear black but I have been known to leave my house after 5pm on rare occasions. Again, swapping out the bag for something a little more affordable and a little less weird, the beauty of brown is that there are tons of different shades that you can blend tonally, and, don’t be afraid to pop some grey in there.  Browns and grey shades together are some of my favorite color combinations.

When an outfit is too sweet or too feminine, I often tell clients that I want to “cut the look” which means to bring in pieces that are edgier to create balance.  In this case, a peplum can be a bit frilly for some, yet, by adding harder accessories, it get a bit funked up.

Lastly, the ever versatile tan handbag, a staple that should be in your wardrobe.  No, not this one, but one in general.  Having a bag in this shade guarantees that you will always have something to grab that works with a dress in any shade you have.  Considering most of us go for dresses in bold colors, a tan handbag would be a wise investment.

Let’s also talk about that mint green, a shade everyone is loving right now but have no idea what to do with it once they buy it.  Mint is a great spring/summer accent that works back to just about any shade, from candy-colored pastels to bold jewel tones.  Currently, the most searched topic on my blog is how to wear mint.  For more information on my advice on that you can click here.

Okay, what do you think of the Alexander McQueen Glove Clutch?  Pretty or Pretty Ugly?
