President Ranil Wickremesinghe, after submitting his nomination papers for the upcoming Presidential Election today (15), visited the historic Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, where he paid homage to the Sri Dalada Maligawa, and received blessings.
Upon his arrival, the President was warmly welcomed by the Chief Custodian of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela.
The President then proceeded to the upper chamber where he engaged in religious rituals and paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic, and received blessings.
President Wickremesinghe also took the time to speak with the devotees at the Dalada Maligawa, inquiring about their well-being and engaging in friendly conversations. The devotees also expressed their best wishes to President Ranil Wickremesinghe for his success in the upcoming Presidential Election.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe then visited the Malwathu Maha Viharaya, where he received blessings from the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter, Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayaka thero. Following the blessings, the President held a brief discussion with the Chief Prelate.
The Mahanayaka Thero recited Seth Pirith and blessed the President.
Following this, President Ranil Wickremesinghe proceeded to the Asgiri Maha Vihara and received blessings from the Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Mahanayaka Thera, the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter. The President also engaged in a cordial conversation with the Chief Prelate.
The Maha Sangha of the Asgiri chapter, led by the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Maha Viharaya, also performed Seth Pirith and offered their blessings to the President.
Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage, State Ministers Dilum Amunugama, Lohan Ratwatte, and Anuradha Jayaratne, Members of Parliament Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Gunathilaka Rajapakse, and Chief of Staff to the President and Senior Advisor on National Security Sagala Ratnayak were all present at the event.
