President Joe Biden’s COVID Relief Bill Passes The Senate

President Joe Biden and the DEM's got a major but messy win on Saturday with the passing of the $1.9 trillion COVID Relief Bill.

Democratic Senator Joe Manchin delayed a vote on the bill as he decided whether to back a GOP bid to decrease the weekly unemployment benefits. This took the DEM's by surprise as they thought they had his vote. In comes Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

"We had what we thought was an agreement. But then Joe Manchin looked at it and was unsure," Schumer explained in an interview according to Politico. "If Manchin would have approved the [GOP] amendment, the bill probably couldn't have passed the House. And I told him that. And he understood that."

Manchin gave Schumer the 50th vote on Saturday afternoon, sending one of the largest emergency spending bills in American history on a path to Biden's desk sometime next week.
