Laptop has always been imagined to be sleek, light weighed, sophisticated and compact. Users give great emphasis on style, design, trend, etc… before choosing the Laptop. But such features in a laptop cannot be suitable for outdoor and adventurous locations. Hence, Dell is coming up with an altogether new Series of Laptops known as Latitude Rugged Extreme Series. Considering adverse locations like border, sight and other external environmental locations, Dell has developed two Laptops namely Rugged Extreme 12 and Rugged Extreme 14 under its Latitude series. Extreme 12 and 14 are rough and tough Laptops. They can be easily folded and converted to a Tablet. This feature is quite innovative and helpful in rough locations.
Understanding Rugged Extreme 12 and 14 in detail:
1. Device: Dell has recently announced about its two new laptops namely Rugged Extreme 12 (7204) and Rugged Extreme 14 (7404). Both the Laptops have been developed and designed by considering all the factors that exist in external locations. It is basically aimed for military, camping, industrial, etc… purposes.
2. Dimensions and Weight: Extreme 14 is superior to Extreme 12 with respect to dimensions and weight. The dimension of Extreme 12 is 12.2 x 8.6 x 1.6 inches (W x D X H) while that of Extreme 14 is 14 x 9.7 x 2.03 inches. Extreme 12 weighs 2.72 Kgs while Extreme 14 weighs 3.54 Kgs.
3. Processor: Extreme 12 runs on Intel 4th generation i3.i5/i7 dual core processor while Extreme 14 runs on Intel 4th Generation i3/i5/i7 dual core processor with same chip set Intel QM87.
4. Storage: The RAM in both the laptops is same i.e. the device can store up to 16GB DDR3L memory. Extreme 12 and Extreme 14 can equip an in-built memory capacity of 128/256/512 GB data.
5. Graphics: Extreme 12 and Extreme 14 have similar Graphic processor namely Intel HD 4400 or HD 5000. However, Extreme 14 also has an advantage to equip an optional processor NVIDIA GT 720M 2GB DDR3.
6. Display: The display size of the screen in both the laptops differs. Extreme 12 has an 11.6 inches screen while Extreme 14 is 14 inches. The resolution in both the devices is similar at 1366 x 768 resistive multiple touch.
7. Battery Life: Extreme 12 supports 4 Cell batteries of 58 Wh and 51 Wh. The battery life in 58 Wh is up to 9 hours while a 51 Wh has a long battery life. However, Extreme 14 runs on 6 cell (65 Wh and 58 Wh) and 9 cell battery (97 Wh and 87 Wh). The battery life in Extreme 14 is up to 14 hours as well as long time.
8. Connectivity Options: Extreme 12 and 14 share similar connectivity options. Both the devices can be connected with Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 4.0 + vPro, Dual Band 802.11ac Intel WiFi, Dell 5570E single mode HSPA+ with A – GPS, Dell 5808 E multi – mode Gobi 5000 4G LTE and an optional SiiRF starV GPS and antennae.
