Another prank message is now going viral on Facebook, saying that the world’s most popular social network will be closed on February 29th, 30th, and 31st for maintenance. Well, it’s not completely true. A billion-dollar company like Facebook will never close their business, not for days, or not even for few minutes. But, you can’t use Facebook during those days either.
Think about it. You can’t really access Facebook between February 29 – 31. Why? Because those days don’t exist. The month February ends on 28th. Yeah, don’t be surprised if you’ve just realized this now because most Facebook users panicked over this prank message, thinking that they wont be able to use Facebook for three days. That would’ve been a nightmare for some people.
Sharing a message like this for fun is up to you. But, think about all the people you are fooling at that very moment. And always remember that doing so, you are helping a spammer to promote his work. For instance, the above image was shared by Papa Roach official band page that has a following of over 3.7 million fans. Within few hours it was shared by over 12k people. Think about the impact they’ve made. It’s a joke, but for some users it wont be.
Experts at Naked Security says “If you’re in the habit of regularly passing on chainletters and hoaxes, chances are that you could also be the kind of person to be duped by scams and malicious links, and could inadvertently share those with your online friends too.”
Why waste you time sharing these Facebook pranks when you can share something interesting and valuable. Share this post with your friends and let them know there’s nothing to worry about.
